Your data never leaves your device
Causal
Wizard runs entirely in your browser. When you upload a CSV or Excel file, it's read and processed
locally on your own computer — it is never sent to us, or to any server. We have no backend, no
database, and no way to see your data even if we wanted to.
Where your data is stored
Your dataset, causal diagram and study configuration are kept in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB), on your own device only. Nothing is uploaded, and nothing is synced to us or to the cloud. If you switch browsers or devices, you'll need to re-upload your data there too.
Deleting data
Since nothing is stored on our servers, there's nothing for us to delete. To remove your data, clear this site's data from your browser (via your browser's site settings), or simply stop using the dataset/study in the app. Deletion is immediate and entirely under your control.
Privacy and data protection
We don't collect any personal information about you. There's no sign-up, no account, and no email address required to use Causal Wizard.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site (for example, which pages are viewed). Google Analytics uses cookies and receives standard browser information such as your approximate location and device type. It never receives your uploaded data — that stays in your browser. We don't use any advertising on this site.
Once you've finished your analysis in the wizard, you'll download a study configuration file (JSON) to run against your data using the notebooks we provide. That step also runs on your own computer, or in a notebook environment you choose (such as Google Colab) — we're not involved in it at all.
